TODAY WITH DIDAM (The Time is Now; Blame Game Over)

Life in this technology-driven age still doesn’t have a remote for you to control. If you are dissatisfied with anything, get up and change it! Life is not a device or gadget! One of the greatest weaknesses of man has been ‘procrastination’. It is rightly said to be the oldest ‘thief of time’. Life is full of available excuses. An excuse is virtually the cheapest commodity in today’s world; available even in time past. It doesn’t take anything to create one. A wise man once told me that “the world is looking out for solutions, and not excuses”. I presume she had had enough, and even overdose. She wants a paradigm shift; a deviation or total break from the ‘unusual’ norm. Quit the blame game.

Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow is yet to come. The only thing we can be sure of (at the point of reading this), is 'now'. It is called ‘present’; which also means ‘a gift’. Correct me if I am wrong, but a ‘present’ is a ‘gift’. Therefore today is a gift; be grateful for it, and use it judiciously. Was listening to one of my favourite radio personalities, Rick Dees; and he played a particular song as performed by Rihanna featuring David Guetta, titled ‘Right Now’ The lyrics has a clear-cut message. It reads: “…Tomorrow way too far away…And we can’t get back yesterday…But we young right now…We got right now…So get up Right Now…”

The bitter-truth is we all have same 24 hours in everyday of the Gregorian calendar year. But amazingly, while others lavish theirs on playing the blame game, flimsy excuses, gain sayings, stray talks and other time-wasting ventures; and end up with barely nothing or little to show for it; some others on the other hand take giant strides, coming out with results; as though they were given 48 hours a day. Take a rough statistic of everyone that could be within your age range (schoolmates or childhood friends), and check how far some have come (most especially but not restricted to) in their individual businesses or establishments), and how much behind some others have been left. Its all in our choices, either by omission or commission.

At this point, the easiest vent might be to say ‘life has not been fair’, ‘all fingers are not equal’ or ‘we all never had same opportunities or privileges. But I put it to whom it may concern, that success isn’t just about advantageous opportunities or privileges alone. It is a product of zeal, passion, enthusiasm, doggedness, resilience, strategic plans and ardent execution, the ‘I can’ mentality, and more. I agree that 'self-aid' might not be true about privileges though, but as for opportunities, they could be created. Better still, create a door for them, and they will come knocking. Just ensure you are always home to open up whenever they knock. Create it now!

You can still be whoever or whatever, if only you refuse to quit. Don't let anyone tell you different. The only obstacle between you and bringing your dreams to fruition is the man/woman in your mirror. Conquer that image in your mirror, and you will be home and dry. On the real, regardless of whoever or wherever you are, a quick look at the time (a clock or a wristwatch), will reveal to you that the time it is exactly ‘now’. The clock, wristwatch or any other time-telling device can only show you the time for now. It cannot show you the time as at yesterday nor tomorrow. It has to be now; and will always be; says the time. It wouldn’t have been earlier or later than ‘now’.

On this note, the time is now for you to let go, and issue a divorce to the 'Blame Game' or procrastination. Make a conscious effort of embracing and marrying the invisible beauty of immediacy. For many are the guest awaiting your marriage to her (Immediacy), if only you propose. Feel free to commit the only permissible murder; ‘kill every excuse’ within your territory. Break out of the cage of mediocre-gradualism and get entangled with the urgency of ‘now’. For the time is now! Yes it is!
