Police Arrests Mischief Makers in Kaduna

About 18 persons have been arrested over the uproar within parts of Kaduna metropolis; Kabala West and Ungwan Muazu.
There was tension in Kabala West in Kaduna South local government area of Kaduna State on Monday morning when the dead body of a man alleged to have been involved in a fight on Sunday night was found in a river in the area.
In a statement the Kaduna State Government said security agencies arrested the hoodlums around the two communities following reports of likely disruption of public peace.
Spokesperson to Governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, Samuel Aruwan, confirmed the arrests, adding that the suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations were concluded.
Mobile police men have since been drafted to the area to ensure peace and order and avoid break down of law and order.
The uproar has been attributed to drugs, poverty and unemployment; and called has been made on the government to as a matter of urgency engage the youth, in order to stop further reoccurences.
Also in a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Aliyu Usman said there was a problem with some miscreants in the area but the police taken care of the situation. He did not however confirm the number of people killed or injured in the crisis and what lead to the problem.
The Kaduna government also dismissed stories making the round on social media, that the crisis has escalated to other parts of Kaduna town. The government warned those peddling false stories to desist.
Meanwhile, the state government has sent a high powered delegation to mediate between Kabala West and Ungwan Mu’azu communities. The delegation was led by Acting Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim Sani, the Special Adviser on Internal Security and Special Assistant on Media and Publicity Samuel Aruwan.
The delegation met with Christian and Muslim religious leaders, youth leaders, security agencies and traditional rulers of the two communities.
The meeting ended with the two sides agreeing that all those responsible for the uproar would be fished out and prosecuted.
